Inspiration Monday 8.17.09 – Relax!

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I just returned home from vacation and have been thinking about how important that time was – to spend with my family and simply relax. It was something that I haven’t done in a long time – nearly a year, in fact. During that time away from work (Tarte Advertising) I was able to release, think, reflect and recharge. As I returned home to work and the day-to-day activities, I realized how much I really needed that time. By giving myself a little bit of time, I can be a better manager, more organized, communicate more clearly with others and come up with better ideas for my clients.

Take a little time for yourself. You will be glad you did. Even if it is only 1 day – take it, enjoy it, savor it, learn from it. Here are a few images that are inspiring me this week and helping me remember what that relaxation time was all about.

Graphic Wallpaper
– I am loving that wallpaper is making a comeback! Love the modern, graphic, stylized patterns…beautiful!

Beautiful Calligraphy – This style of calligraphy by Emilie Friday is GORGEOUS. Who wouldn’t want to get this in the mail…it’s dreamy!

Old Typewriters - I like the instant gratification of having the letters appear on paper.

Kenton Nelson Paintings – Love his depiction of the American landscape and use of saturated colors. Check his work out.

Madras Fabrics – So casual and reminicent of summer.

Unbelievable that we are now in the 6th month of 2009. The days, weeks and months seem to be flying by quicker than ever before. Don’t we all need to stop and reflect and be inspired? Here is my inspiration images for this week. I decided to do an inspiration board this week. Let me know what you think.

Pugs (ready for my second one) • Vintage Chris Craft (hopefully I can get one of these for my husband one day) • Unusual veils • Treehouses (would love to have one for days I need to escape) • iMac • Field of poppies
