Lush Cosmetics: A Mission Statement With Meaning

Undisputed Marketplace Leadership. – Hershey’s

We will provide branded products and services of superior quality and value that improve the lives of the world’s consumers. As a result, consumers will reward us with leadership sales, profit, and value creation, allowing our people, our shareholders, and the communities in which we live and work to prosper. – Global Gilette

Company Missions Statements: Often bland, and rarely read. They can most likely be found within the first few pages of a The Annual Shareholders’ Report, or on the wall in the Executive Suite. But what good do they have?

Enter: Lush Cosmetics.

Where can you find their Mission Statement? On every bag that they give to every customer that purchases an item from them. Between their openness to share their mission statement in such a public way, to the openness and honesty of their mission, Lush Cosmetics is a great example of how to take a Mission Statement one step further than just hanging it in your office or writing a paragraph to stick on your website.

The Tissue Box Dilemma

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Here at Tarte Advertising we’re always on the lookout for good design. E-mails fly about daily with links to well designed websites, cleverly designed logos, eye catching ways to cleverly market a product and great examples of print design.

We Tarte folk also love great design when it comes to the things we need and use on a daily basis in our lives outside the office. Clothing, home goods, tech gear – those links to great product fly about just as frequently.

Today’s link is the ultimate problem solver to the unsightly tissue box. Seriously – has there ever been a nicely designed tissue box? I think not. As quickly as my husband puts them on the tables and in the bathrooms around my house (after 9 years I’m not sure what his “thing” is with tissues but you choose your battles wisely), I pick them up and hide them in cabinets, behind things – their very existence in our home makes me cringe and I’d just assume rub my nose raw on some 2 ply rather than deal with tissues boxes in my house.

Then I found the Sleek, Simple Paper Pot on Delight.com.

The variety of bright colors and the container’s sleek, simple design will fit nicely in your home no matter your decorating taste. You can even mix and match the tops and bottoms of containers for a funkier option if you prefer.

Down with the unsightly cardboard tissue boxes!

Package It Up

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Are you a person who will walk down the aisle of the grocery store, or through the makeup department or around the wine store and purchase something just because of the way it is packaged? If it looks pretty, then you purchase it? I admit it, I am that person – and it drives my husband crazy! I can walk into Sephora with no intentions on buying anything (because I don’t need anything) and walk out of there with a bag full of products that are packaged perfectly.

I love packaging. It is design on a 3-D level and the results can be amazing. Not every designer is great at package design, but the ones who are make me want to stare at their designs all day. Below are just a few examples of what I feel is fabulous packaging.

Some of these examples I love for the simplicity of the design. That simplicity helps them to stand out on a shelf full of clutter. Others I love for the use of fonts. There isn’t one style that I like – it just has to stand out to me.
